Education for Inventing the Future

Dr. Mau-Chung Frank CHANG Wintek Distinguished Chair Professor, UCLA, United State of America / President Emeritus, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan (R.O.C.)

This talk will stress the importance of nurturing future leaders and pioneers to invent the future via both creativity and innovation, of which are mutually complementary and equally important.

The creativity of science starts from defining and structuring rightful questions to comprehend the nature and humanity; The innovation of technology starts from defining and structuring rightful questions to comprehend societal unmet needs in both market and products.

As educators, we must therefore change our ways in educating young minds not just to solve the rightful problem defined by others, but to define and structure rightful problems of their own in formulating the stage for expanding human knowledge base and elevating human civilization in quantum scale.
