President, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)

Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul is currently the President of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).

Dr. Sirilertworakul earned his bachelor’s degree in Production engineering with first-class honor from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Thonburi. Soon after his graduation, he was awarded a Royal Thai Government scholarship to further his study and obatined his Ph.D. in manufacturing engineering at the University of Birmingham in 1993. In 2008, he completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Dr. Sirilertworakul started his career in 1993 as a researcher for the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), one of NSTDA research centers. In 1997, he was appointed director of the automotive industry quality system program, providing advice on quality system improvement to automotive parts manufacturers. In 2000, he was promoted to NSTDA Vice President, responsible for various management such as personnel management, organization development, finances and accounting, and supplies. In 2004, he was appointed NSTDA Executive Vice President, responsible for directing and managing Technology Management Center, a commercialization arm of NSTDA. Since August 2016, he has served as President of NSTDA.

Dr. Sirilertworakul is active in championing science, technology and innovation at the national and international levels. He serves as Board Chairman of Microinnovate Company Limited, Board of Director of Internet Thailand Public Company Limited and a member of Executive Committee of SAKUN C Innovation Company Limited. On the international front, Dr. Sirilertworakul currently serves various prominent positions in several international organizations, e.g. Advisory Board Member of the Global Young Academy (GYA), Governing Board Member of the Alliance of International Science Organizations in the Belt and Road Region (ANSO), International Advisory Board Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences- the Innovation Cooperation Center Bangkok (CAS-ICCB), and Council Member of the Science and Technology in Society forum (STS forum).
