President Hong Hocheng received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California (Berkeley) and Diplom-Ing. from RWTH Aachen, Germany. His research interest lies in the innovative manufacturing processes. He has been cited Outstanding Teaching from NTHU, Outstanding Research Awards from National Science Council, National Academic Prize of Ministry of Education, and the Prof. Fryderyk Staub Golden Owl Award from World Academy of Manufacturing and Materials Engineering.

Hocheng has been also dedicated to the service at NTHU as the Dean of General Education, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dean of College of Engineering. President Hocheng served as the Deputy Minister of the National Science Council and has been the of National Tsing Hua University since 2014. NTHU is currently composed of 10 colleges including the subjects of sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, business management, education and arts.
